Peachtree FC Joins the APSL, Becomes First Club in the Southeast to Do So
Starting this fall, the Atlanta-based club will participate in the new Terminus Conference.
Today, Peachtree FC of Atlanta became the first club to join the American Premier Soccer League’s (APSL) efforts for southeastern expansion. The APSL, formerly the EPSL, has allowed Peachtree FC into their new Terminus Division for Metro Atlanta clubs, which will kick off this fall and run their season from September to June.
Peachtree FC have been a member of the Atlanta District Amateur Soccer League (ADASL). With their second team’s promotion to the first division of the ADASL this year, they plan to keep the second team in that league. They move the first team to a league planning to attract clubs with low entry fees, a $60,000 national prize pool, a pro-rel system with local state leagues, the year-long calendar, and more.
The club provided the Southeast Soccer Report with a statement on the future of the club in both the leagues.
“We’re huge fans of both APSL and ADASL and what they offer, which is affordability and merit-based promotion/relegation. We’re big believers in allowing talent to shine on the pitch and that means making sure it’s accessible to all with low costs which are offered by both leagues. As our first team has progressed from division 2 to division 1 of ADASL, we’ve been looking to grow to a team known on a regional and hopefully national level. The introduction of APSL to Atlanta offers that opportunity for us and so we’re really excited to be the first team signed up to the new conference. This league will offer us opportunities to play other great teams from the Atlanta area and from around the region and nation through the APSL playoffs. This opportunity for our first team also allows our second team to continue to grow. Having finished second in ADASL division 2 in the team’s first season, we now have the opportunity to play division 1 this fall and continue to grow both sides. Overall we’re excited to see both teams take on new challenges next year and continue on the foundations we’ve built at the club over the past 3 seasons.”
As Peachtree FC start their new venture, the Southeast Soccer Report will be the home for all news surrounding the team. They are our 44th club covered on the website and our first of hopefully many in the APSL. We are thankful for the partnership and cannot wait to work with the organization.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks and months for more news about Southeastern expansion in the APSL (including in the Carolina-based Piedmont conference).
I believe Florida Roots in Panama City opted for APSL over TLfC….
What's the entry fee for the APSL, and how does it compare with peer leagues (LfC, NPSL, USL League 2, etc.)? Is the entry fee paid annually, or there is a large upfront "franchise" fee, following by annual fees, and who pays the refs, etc.? Thanks for insight!
